Support for adults
Many of us will face a diagnosis of cancer or another life threatening condition at some time in our lives, or will lose someone close to us as a result. Whether it’s you, your partner, a family member or a friend who is affected, it can trigger painful and distressing feelings.
Counselling provides a safe, supportive environment to talk things through. It can be helpful to be able to talk openly, without worrying that you might be judged, or feeling concerned that you might upset your friends and family. Research shows that counselling can help people affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions to cope with some of the challenges that it brings.
WHY provides one-to-one counselling on a weekly basis for adults in Bath, Bradford-on Avon, Chippenham, Frome, Midsomer Norton, Street, Trowbridge, Warminster and Yeovil; children’s counselling in Bath, Frome, Midsomer Norton, Trowbridge, Street and Yeovil and in-school services in Frome at Selwood Academy, Oakfield Academy and Frome Community College and in Wiltshire at Matravers School in Westbury.
We also offer online counselling for people aged 16 and over who might find it difficult to get to our venues or prefer to have counselling at home, via Zoom video conferencing. You'll need a quiet space to talk and a reliable broadband connection.
