A message from Rachel:
I know many people wanted a reunion mile this year but with the current pandemic it’s highly likely that mass gatherings may not be allowed for some time to come yet..
Friday the 29th May will be the anniversary of my Mum's death, it’s this time of year that I usually organise a big community charity event in Frome in her memory. I just can’t let the time pass without doing something for others, and something for Mum. So I’m asking anyone and everyone to take part in a virtual mile for WHY that day wherever you are in the world! You can run (or walk) alone, with family from your household or one other friend/family member from a different household (I hope that’s as clear as mud?!)
You MUST not organise a gathering! The idea of this is you run a mile at whatever time that suits you on that day! I just ask that you wear a WHY t-shirt (if you have one), take a selfie for me and make a donation via the link to WHY (however small).
WHY have always supported people affected by life threatening conditions, so there's no question of their services stopping at a time when even more people are impacted. At the same time, there's no question of running many of the fundraising events and activities that enable them to provide that support free of charge, and they face a shortfall in income of up to £70,000. Please get involved to help raise vital funds for WHY while boosting your mood and health with one more mile!
