Local musician Nick Clinch has organised a music event at Rook Lane Chapel on Friday 7th June in aid of local charity We Hear You (WHY), featuring acoustic sets by Phil Cooper and Sara Vian and a talk by Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis.

Nick says: “I’ve fundraised for WHY several times, mostly through running challenges like the Bath Half and Frome Half. Sponsored running is a no brainer for me as I love running and it adds value to my efforts, but I decided to try something a bit different last year, so I organised WHYRock at Frome Football Club in February, with sets by five local bands and we raised over £1,000. Charity gigs are hard work and quite time consuming but the money gained makes it worthwhile, so we’re doing it again this year, with a different feel and more intimate acoustic sets. It’s great to have Michael Eavis on the lineup and amazing to get him so close to Glastonbury festival. Phil Cooper is a brilliant singer-songwriter and I’m so please that the talented Sara Vian is back, having played at WHYRock last year. Come along, have a good night and support a vital local charity.”

Lucy McMahon from WHY says “Thanks so much to Nick for using his contacts and giving up his time to organise this event for us – we have such a fantastic community of musicians in Frome and last year’s event was great fun, so we’re really looking forward to it and are excited to have Michael Eavis, the man who epitomises June in Somerset, to speak on the night. We’ll be there with a raffle and information about our services, and Rook Lane’s very reasonably priced bar will be open! Tickets are just £10, which is an absolute bargain, and all proceeds from the event will go directly towards free counselling for people in our community coping with cancer or a life threatening condition.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 plus booking fee and can be purchased from Eventbrite.co.uk, or by emailing fundraising@wehearyou.org.uk.
