The power of friendship – album launch in aid of WHY

Frome singer songwriter Carol Foster is celebrating the life of her friend, We Hear You founder Jill Miller at the launch of her album ‘Coming Home’ at 23 Bath Street on Thursday 14th July at 8pm. Entry is free, with all donations raised on the day to go towards WHY’s free specialist counselling and emotional support for those affected or bereaved by cancer and life threatening conditions. Jill and Carol’s friendship saw then both through cancer diagnoses and Carol was there to see Jill create Positive Action on Cancer (PAC), now We Hear You, in 1994. Carol said:

“Jill paved the way for a lot of people in the town who had cancer, they were diagnosed and she would be there to support them. People who seemed very proud, not willing to accept help, to get therapy. It’s about getting it across: you can’t tell your partner everything, or your friends everything and they might not listen in the way you want them to. And I think she put that message across. And I think a lot of people got that, and they accessed it (counselling).

Carol has been making music from the age of 15 and is regularly seen performing in and around Frome, but Coming Home is her first, and she says, her only album. :

“It’ll start about 8 o’clock and it’ll be me and my band, and I’ll have a couple of people doing backing vocals. I want to make it a full night, a relaxed performance, with stories in between and someone to talk about WHY. It was all due to happen in 2020, but they stopped production. I got it back last year and thought I’m going to wait till everyone can come out again.”

The launch of ‘Coming Home’ takes place on Thursday 14th July at 8pm, at 23 Bath Street, Frome BA11 1DJ. For more information visit wehearyou.org.uk/fundraising. To refer yourself for WHY’s services, call 01373 455255 or email info@wehearyou.org.uk
