Charity fundraiser Rachel Clark and her team are urging people to sign up for the skittles world record attempt on Sunday 2nd June between 9am and 5pm. This is the third word record attempt by the team, who successfully beat the world record for the most people to take part in a 24-hour continuous ‘rowathon’ on an indoor rowing machine in June 2018.

Around 150 people have already signed up for the event, which will see participants play a continuous eight-hour game of skittles outside Frome Library as part of the Frome Independent. However, in order to beat the record, the team need at least 480 players. All proceeds from the event go to local charity We Hear You (WHY) who provide free professional counselling for anyone affected by cancer or a life threatening condition. Rachel says:

“Frome are already world record holders and I know the people who will help us smash another record are out there. This year’s challenge is genuinely open to all – it was great to see a huge range of people take on the rowathon last year, but some people were understandably put off by the physical nature of the challenge. This year, you don’t even need to break a sweat and nobody has to stay up all night! All you need to be able to do is throw three skittles balls and hit at least one pin. This record isn’t about the highest score, but the highest number of players. We’ve got an online registration form on SurveyMonkey, and people can still sign up that way, but to make it as easy as possible to get involved, we’ll also take registrations via email to fromeworldrecordskittles@gmail.com. Just send your name, date of birth and your preferred one-hour time slot between 9am and 5pm and we’ll get back to you. If you don’t want to play skittles, we also need stewards for two-hour shifts and official witnesses for four-hour shifts. Don’t leave it till the last minute, sign up now to be part of something amazing and help a great local charity!”

To register to take part in the skittles world record attempt on Sunday 2nd June, as a player, steward or official witness, complete the online registration form at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/skittlesworldrecord or send your name, date of birth and preferred one-hour time slot to fromeworldrecordskittles@gmail.com. There will also be an opportunity to sign up in person at Frome Football Club on Thursday 9th May from 7pm to 9pm.
