Cancer charity We Hear You (WHY) is celebrating a £900.87 fundraising total from a jumble sale on 4th February at Frome Masonic Hall.

The money was raised by a team including WHY CEO Lucy Kitchener, Fundraising Manager Ruth Knagg and RUH staff member Carys Dunstan, towards their £10,000 target for a forthcoming trek across Iceland in March. Jumble donations came in from across Frome and the surrounding area, for the third jumble sale organised by the team as part of a busy schedule of community events, including a curry and ceilidh night and a gin and rum tasting evening.

Ruth Knagg said: "The jumble sales are a lot of work, but the queue outside Frome Masonic Hall last weekend, and three fantastic amounts raised, make them worth all the effort. Our next challenge is a physical one, trekking across Iceland for WHY - beautiful views but definitely not an easy option! We'll be thinking of the people who need WHY's services when the going gets tough, the money is so much needed to help We Hear You keep supporting our community. Thanks so much to everyone who has helped us raise the money so far. Look out for progress updates on our trek fundraising page at https://bit.ly/iceland-trek-2023 and make a donation if you can to keep our spirits up!

Fundraising Manager Gemma Wilkes said: "Good luck to Carys, Lucy and Ruth as they set off on this epic adventure! Taking on a challenge for charity is such a brilliant way to show your support for a good cause and tick off an ambition at the same time! Visit wehearyou.org.uk/events for information about all our forthcoming challenges, including a more local trek of the South West Coast Path in Cornwall in June. You can also come up with a challenge of your own - we'll help you plan it, promote it and cheer you on while you do it."
