Why Cancer Counselling

Counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) is calling on the local community to sign up for their annual ‘Santa Dash’ a 4k fun run for children and adults at The Old Showfield on Sunday 8th December. As in previous years, the event is sponsored by Frome Running Club and Frome Cricket Club, with all proceeds going towards WHY’s free professional counselling service for anyone affected or bereaved by cancer or a life threatening condition.

Gemma Wilkes, Fundraising and Communications Manager at WHY, says, ‘Our Santa Dash is now an established part of Christmas in Frome and we’re hoping this one will be the best yet. In addition to the usual cake and hot drinks sale, we’ll be serving bacon sandwiches to our sporty Santas, thanks to the generosity of Penleigh Butchers on Stony Street. There’s no minimum sponsorship, but we’d love participants to try to raise £44 each, which is the cost of a counselling session at We Hear You. This event sold out last year, so register soon to be part of the fun. Thanks so much to Frome Running Club and the Frome Cricket Club for all their help and support.’

Everyone who pre-registers for the Santa Dash will receive a Santa suit including a hat and beard. Medals are awarded to everyone who finishes the race and official times are available through event sponsors Frome Running Club.

Registration for the Frome Santa Dash 2019 is via Eventbrite.co.uk and costs £10 per adult (£8 with early bird discount until 10th November) or £5 per child (age 6-17 – all children must be accompanied). Under fives run for free but will need to bring their own festive outfit. A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £25. Booking will close once places are filled, or on Wednesday 4th December.
