Frome’s ‘Good Afternoon Choir’ raised just under £650 for Frome-based cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY), performing in concert alongside the internationally acclaimed Bath Male Choir.

The choir is one of nine Good Afternoon choirs across the south west region, started by Bath’s ‘Mr Music’ Grenville Jones, also founder of the Golden Oldies charity and  a judge on BBC One show ‘All Together Now’, who has raised thousands of pounds for charity in the course of his career while bringing people of all ages together to make music. The Frome choir is the newest of the group, led by Matt Finch, and the evening marked their inaugural performance.

Proceeds from the event went to We Hear You, who provide free professional counselling to anyone affected or bereaved by cancer or a life threatening condition across Somerset, BANES and Wiltshire.

Communications Assistant Lucy McMahon says ‘It was a pleasure to attend this event.  We’re so grateful to the Good Afternoon choir for choosing to support WHY – I understand that some members of the choir have used our service and I had the opportunity to talk with some members of the audience about their own experiences, which was great. People were incredibly generous at the retiring collection and we’re especially grateful to Grenville for covering most of the costs of the event, taking our total to £650 overall and paying for almost 15 sessions of much-needed counselling for people coping with cancer or another life threatening condition.’
