Frome’s Cordero Lounge is raising money for cancer charity We Hear You (WHY) with ‘LoungeAid’, two months of events, activities and cash collections in the restaurant.
The calendar of events is eclectic, including quiz nights and games nights, a dog-friendly meetup, a chance to get your pudding for free when you turn up to eat in your pyjamas and a Fathers’ Day craft event. The charity’s donation tins will also be in the lounge until the end of June. This is the first LoungeAid since the lounge was forced to close during the 2020 lockdown. Sasha Tanner, deputy manager at Cordero, said:
“LoungeAid is a company-wide event. It's held throughout May and June and every lounge chooses a local charity to support and try and raise as much money as they can for them. We have a number of events happening over the next month or so including a Pyjama Day on Saturday 21st May. All the staff will be wearing PJs on shift and if any guests come down to the lounge in their PJs we'll give them a free dessert. Keep an eye on our social pages for any more information about our upcoming events. We've even roped in our Operations Head Chef to have a leg waxed, with customers donating £5 per wax strip to have a go themselves. If you can support us in any way you can then we can aim to raise a great amount of money for WHY. "
Helen White (pictured with a member of the Cordero team) dropped off leaflets, info and collection tins this week and said “The team at Cordero said they had a lot planned and they certainly meant it! This local restaurant is also a fantastic community hub, and that’s reflected in Cordero’s generous support of a charity that supports the community here in Frome, as well as across Somerset, BANES and Wiltshire. We look forward to getting involved with all the fundraising and would like to say a big thank you to all the Cordero Lounge staff for their support.”
