Partnerships Fundraiser

We’re looking for a skilled relationship‑builder to grow meaningful, values‑aligned partnerships across our region. As our Partnerships Fundraiser, you’ll help develop corporate and major donor relationships, manage a healthy pipeline of prospects, and play a key role in securing around £100k a year towards WHY’s long‑term sustainability.

You'll join a small, committed team making a real difference for people affected by cancer and life‑threatening conditions.

Volunteer Counsellor or Therapist (Qualified)

We are seeking volunteer counsellors and therapists (Qualified) to provide one to one counselling / therapy to adults affected by cancer or a life-threatening condition as part of the We Hear You team.

You’ll offer a minimum of two weekly counselling sessions and one weekly telephone assessment.

The skills you will need:

  • A diploma / degree in counselling or psychotherapy.

  • Good understanding of issues arising for people affected by cancer and other life-threatening conditions.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to deal with situations which could be upsetting or challenging.

  • Good understanding of humanistic and integrative approaches to counselling are preferable.

Placement Counsellor (voluntary)

We are seeking counsellors and therapists to undertake a placement with We Hear You (WHY).

We welcome applications from both trainee counsellors and qualified counsellors who are looking to increase their required delivery hours in support of their course or develop their experience in a supportive, specialist environment. 

You’ll offer a maximum of four weekly adult counselling sessions, providing one‑to‑one emotional support to people affected by cancer and other life‑threatening conditions.  In return, we provide induction training, CPD and regular support. Students must have their own supervision in place with an appropriately experience supervisor.

You’ll need:

  • To be studying or have completed a counselling/psychotherapy diploma/degree

  • Fitness‑to‑practise letter from your course tutor (trainee)

  • Good understanding of issues arising for people affected by cancer and other life-threatening conditions.

Closing date: 5pm Thursday 30 April
Interviews: Monday 11 May and Wednesday 13 May

Trustees (voluntary)

We are seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees. As a trustee, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of WHY, setting our direction and strategy, and ensuring we build strong foundations for continued impact.

Skills We’re Seeking
The Board has identified specific skills that would greatly benefit WHY at this time:

  • A trustee with clinical experience in counselling or therapy

  • A trustee with accountancy or financial expertise

Commitment and Responsibilities
Trustees are appointed for an initial four-year term, with members typically serving up to three terms for continuity. The Board meets six times per year. In addition, trustees are encouraged to take on responsibilities, actively support staff, and participate in events. Read the role description to get more details:
