Frome-based counselling charity We Hear You’s (WHY) 2018 Mad March campaign raised £16,500, which will fund 375 counselling session for people affected by cancer or a life threatening condition.

Fundraising and Communications Manager Gemma Wilkes says ‘We’d like to say a huge thank you to the people of Frome, who once again pulled out all the stops to support Mad March. We had mufti days, tea parties, sporting events, fashion shows cake sales and much more. We were also very impressed by the efforts of our Bath Half marathon runners, many of whom took it upon themselves to run the 13.1 mile distance all by themselves after the race was cancelled due to the snow! We’re so lucky to have a strong support base in Frome – the money raised in the community is absolutely vital to make sure we can continue to reach people who need our help. That support isn’t just needed in March – we’re always looking for people in the community to fundraise for us and we’ll support you every step of the way. You can take part in our organised challenge events through Go Skydive or Global Adventures Ltd – Inca Trail, anyone? – or come up with your own. Our supporter Nick Kelly is tackling the Stourhead Triathlon in May with a group of friends after benefitting from our service, which is an epic challenge, but you could also give up chocolate, host a coffee morning or volunteer your time and talents for us and sponsor us ‘in kind’!’
