Location: Outside Frome Library
Date: 02/06/2019 9am to 5pm
Charity fundraiser, world record breaker and Frome Person of the Year 2018, Rachel Clark, is back this summer with another world record attempt and is calling on the local community to get involved.
This record to break this year is the highest number of players in a continuous eight-hour game of skittles. The challenge will take place outside Frome Library on Sunday 2nd June from 9am to 5pm at the Frome Independent. The existing world record stands at 468 people, so to beat the record, each skittles player needs to throw three balls and clear the way for the next player in one minute or less.
Rachel says: “My goal this year was to make our challenge more inclusive to the wider community, I want it to be fun, stress free and hopefully as warm and sunny as last year as there’ll be plenty of straw bales around us! You don’t have to be a seasoned skittles player to take part, that’s the key, it’s open to anyone to come and be part of a huge world record team!”
Rachel and her brothers Daniel and Matthew have raised more than £30,000 for local causes since 2011 in memory of their mother Shirley, with most of the money raised going to local charity We Hear You (WHY), who provide free professional counselling to anyone affected by a life threatening condition.
With fundraising in mind, Rachel and her team ask that all participants make a suggested £10 donation to WHY on the day of the record attempt if they can. Fundraising and Communications Manager Gemma Wilkes says “Thanks again to Rachel and Team Clark for their amazing support of WHY. We’re sure the community will rally behind you again and make it another record-breaking summer!”
Anyone interested in participating in the skittles world record attempt, whether as a player, sticker upper, steward or official witness can sign up online. General enquiries can be sent to Rachel and the team at firstname.lastname@example.org. However, registration is only possible via the online registration form.
