Counselling charity We Hear You is once again offering free group therapy in Frome and Bath for people living with and beyond a diagnosis of cancer or other life threatening condition. The groups are facilitated by two professional counsellors, providing a safe, confidential space to talk through feelings with people who have had similar experiences. The charity (formerly known as Positive Action on Cancer) has offered one-to-one counselling for people affected by cancer or a life threatening condition since 1994 and is able to offer group therapy thanks to a grant from Macmillan Cancer Support.

Cath Wilkins, Clinical Manager at WHY commented, ‘The positive impact of our one-to-one counselling service for people coping with cancer or a life threatening condition is beyond question and we’re proud to have provided support to people in the communities we serve for almost 25 years. However, we have found that it can also be very beneficial for people to share their experiences with those in similar situations. Being able to express feelings in a safe and confidential environment facilitated by professional counsellors can provide a healing experience with opportunities for learning and self-growth. Our groups are a valuable addition to the services we offer and allow us to reach more people who need our help.  We are delighted to have secured funding for this important work from Macmillan.’

The next course of group therapy in Frome runs weekly from Wednesday 12th September at Frome Town Hall. The next course in Bath starts on Tuesday 2nd October at the New Oriel Hall in Larkhall, Bath from 10.30. Both groups run for 12 weeks and take place from 10.30am to 12pm.
